Peter Davey Dip.A.D, A.T.D

Peter Davey - Artist and PainterPeter Davey was born in 1945 on the Wirral Peninsula, England. He attended Wallasey Technical Grammar School and Wallasey School of Art before acquiring a degree in Fine Art Sculpture at Maidstone College of Art, Kent in 1966, with much focus on drawing.

After obtaining the specialist Art Teacher's Diploma at Liverpool University, Peter taught in Secondary Schools in Essex, Manchester and Rochdale for 14 years finishing with secondment to Manchester University for research. He became a professional artist in the late 80's, but continued to teach part-time with the Open College of Art, and in various Colleges of Adult Education, and with LSG Painting Holidays in many parts of France. He retired from teaching in 2007, but still runs residential courses with his wife in painting and drawing for just a few weeks each year, and occasional full day courses at their home in Aquitaine.

Peter Davey's work is largely figurative, the majority in watercolour, although he uses all available mediums, and because he is experimental by nature he is constantly exploring and developing techniques, ways of seeing and expressing ideas.

Peter continues to paint en plein air in France. he has worked extensively throughout Europe, the islands and rim of the Mediterranean, North Africa, India, Thailand and Vietnam.
